Sydney Solvents Blog: All About Kerosene

Can you use Sydney Solvent Kerosene for Kerosene Heaters?

The short answer: YES!

Our Kerosene fuel is perfect for Kerosene heaters, burning off a lovely heat to keep you warm during the cold weather.

For only $55 for a 20 Litre our Kerosene Fuel means that it is cost efficient to run and keep you warm.

Common Kerosene Questions

How much should you buy? 5 Litre or a 20 Litre?

There is no exact answer, it all depends on the heater, how much you use and how often. On average 3 litres of fuel can burn for up to 18 hours. If you are using it at night an on weekends a 20 Litre may last you around 2 to 3 weeks. However, of course it could all vary but it is a rough guide.

Is the Kerosene odourless or does it have a smell?

Sydney Solvents Kerosene, like most kerosene, has a distinct solvent-kerosene smell that is quite noticeable. Even the Kerosene labelled “odourless” still has an odour to it but once it is burning the smell will burn off.

Can we buy direct from you and pick up?

Yes, of course you are more than welcome to pick up and buy direct. The easiest way is to purchase (Visa, Mastercard, AfterPay, PayPal) through the website and select pick up. However, you can pay on pick up either Cash or Visa/ Mastercard – Eftpos is not available unfortunately.

What about the Blue Kerosene?

Blue Kerosene is exactly the same as the Sydney Solvents Clear Kerosene, the only difference is that it is blue. The blue Kerosene has a blue dye in it simply so that it can be distinguished at Oil Depots, but in terms of usage in comparison to the clear it is exactly the same.

Are we able to bring our old containers for fill up?

Unfortunately, due to the regulations by the EPA that we abide by we are unable to accept containers due to contamination and the level of danger it can have. Even our own containers we cannot refill.

How can we dispose of the containers?

The disposable of dangerous goods plastic (as long as it is empty), you can give it a wash out and put it in the normal bin for disposal or contact your local council to find the best way for disposal.
