How to Use Isopropyl Alcohol to Sanitise Make Up Brushes

Make Up brushes can become dirty very quickly, especially when you’re using them on a day-to-day basis. If you don’t keep them clean, the oils from your face will continue to stay in the brushes increasing break outs. The Isopropyl Alcohol acts an instant brush refresher to kill the bacteria and disinfect the brush.

When cleaning brushes we recommend using a 70% grade so it is not harsh on the skin.

  1. Pour the Isopropyl Alcohol into a small bowl.
  2. Dip the brush into the bowl, and move it around for about 10 to 20 seconds.
  3. Remove excess residue with a paper towel.

The Isopropyl Alcohol is great for cleansing them so you can use them like they’re brand new. In some cases, you may need to thorough wash the brushes, especially if they have not been cleaned for a long period of time.

Hi Briony, I use the alcohol to wash oil pastels on my paintings /drawings. I do that by using an artists brush place a small amount on the brush a wash your colour around . And that makes it a lot smoother
